GTA Online Rocket Launcher Speed Guide
Why Speed Matters Firing rockets faster increases your damage output and lets you pressure vehicles or groups of players before they can react.
Core Techniques - Weapon Swap Cancel
After you fire a rocket, immediately tap your weapon-swap button to switch to your sidearm and then switch back to the launcher. This cancels most of the reload animation and readies your next shot faster.
- Melee Cancel
Right after firing, press your melee key or button. The melee animation cancels the launcher reload and speeds up your next rocket.
- Rapid-Fire Glitch[3]
Some players use a rapid-fire trick where you fire, quickly switch weapons, then fire again as soon as you return to the launcher. This can massively boost your fire rate but may be patched by Rockstar.
- Use the Homing Launcher
The Homing Launcher reloads slightly faster than the RPG. If you need to fire back-to-back rockets, this option gives you a lower cooldown.
- Mount and Dismount Vehicles
If you fire rockets from inside certain vehicles with built-in launchers, exiting and re-entering can reset the reload timer faster than manual reloading.
Mastery Tips - Practice the timing of swap and melee cancels in a solo session before using them in freemode or missions
- Combine swap cancel with sprinting to maintain mobility while firing
- Keep a pistol or SMG in your second slot for quicker swaps
- Stay aware of patches as Rockstar often fixes exploits that affect reload animations
