How To Unlock The Double Jump In The Outer Worlds 2
By Jason Rodriguez

Are you wondering about how to unlock the double jump in The Outer Worlds 2? This ability can be yours fairly early in the campaign. Once you've acquired it, traversal and navigation should be significantly easier.

A Final Death for Gravity quest guide

The double jump ability comes from a side quest called "A Final Death for Gravity." It takes place on Eden--i.e. Paradise Island--which is basically the first major region in the campaign. You do need to reach an area called Sovereign's Sweet Spire Grove.

Sovereign's Sweet Spire Grove location

Sovereign's Sweet Spire is located due west of Fairfield. You should see a rock formation jutting out of the plateau. There's also an elevator control terminal nearby. You must have Engineering 3 to repair it.

Make your way to Sovereign's Sweet Spire Grove to start the quest.

Perilous Journey to the Grove: Meeting the trapped NPCs

As soon as you approach the main structure in the grove, an NPC will yell as they fall straight down to their doom. Two other NPCs, Othaham and Ferch, will try to get your attention. It seems that they're stuck atop the structure, and they're unable to make their way down.

Inspect the dead trooper to find the following:

  • P.A.L.E. - The Plasmatic Augmented Leap Enhancer (PALE) actually grants the double jump in The Outer Worlds 2. As soon as you pick it up, you'll be able to hop while in mid-air.
  • Recovered Schematics - Another quest item.
Picking up the PALE augment unlocks the double jump in The Outer Worlds 2.

A Final Death for Gravity: Jumping all the way to the top

This leads to a couple of tasks:

  • Perilous Journey to the Grove - Return to Fairfield and bring the Recovered Schematics to an NPC named Huell Chaudry. He's just outside the saloon with the sun symbol.
  • A Final Death for Gravity - Your goal in Sovereign's Sweet Spire Grove is to use the double jump ability to reach the control room. Along the way, you'll find the Drive Overloader that can be used on the terminal at the top.
Reach the top of the structure and aid the two Auntie's Choice NPCs to conclude the quest.

The double jump ability and other rewards

Apart from the PALE augment, you'll find a few other goodies in the area, too:

  • Upon reaching the top of the main structure, go to the edge to see a rock formation. There's an incline at the back, which happens to have a picnic area. You can grab a card from that location. You can learn more about these items in our collectible cards guide.
  • You're presented with two options when you interact with the main controls: (1) Lower the harvester by using the Drive Overloader, or (2) regulate the device via Engineering 4 or the Brilliant trait. In our case, we picked the second option, which yielded the Monocular Target-Finder helmet.

That does it for our guide on how to unlock the double jump in The Outer Worlds 2. This is just one point of interest in Fairfield, and there are lots of other areas in just the first region of the game.
